4 Reasons to Sleep on Your Back

We know that Microcurrent facials are essential for firmer, more youthful looking skin—but if you want to maintain your results and prevent the signs of aging, there are many things you can do. One of these things is to get the proper amount of sleep, which for most people is between seven and nine hours per day. Yet it’s equally important to make the most of that sleep, and to do this, it’s essential that you sleep on your back.

Doctors, estheticians and beauty gurus all agree that the healthiest and best position to sleep in for antiaging is on your back. Here are four reasons that you should sleep on your back:

1.    Sleeping on you back supports your spine. Sleeping on your back makes it easier for your spine to be in neutral position and so that you don’t sleep in any strange contorted positions that result in neck and back pain. Think about those mornings you awaken to a kink in your neck, shoulder or back—you know what we’re talking about.

2. It prevents the formation of wrinkles. Sleeping on your back protects your face from getting smashed against your pillow or mattress. Have you ever woken up to deep “sleep creases” on your face and prayed they would go away by the time you left the house? You may have breathed a sigh of relief for that day, but over time, they do actually become etched in your face.

3. To protect your décolletage and breasts. Just like sleeping in other positions can cause creases in your face, sleeping on your stomach or side will cause those same deep creases on your chest. Sleeping on your back also helps you avoid putting too much pressure on your breasts, which can contribute to sagginess over time.

4. Sleeping on your back helps prevent acid reflux. When you sleep facing up, your stomach is situated below your esophagus, which helps prevent food and acid from coming back up.
