Here are five effective skin care tips for Fall.
|1. Repair summer wear and tear. Even though we know you wore sunscreen religiously all summer long, the sun still may have wreaked some damage. Start treating unsightly hyperpigmentation with nightly use of a gentle lightening product or retinol. Retinol is an excellent option as it also targets wrinkles and fine lines while exfoliating dead skin cells to reveal fresher looking skin and eliminate clogged pores.
2. Apply sunscreen like it’s summer. Even though the days are shorter and temperatures cool down, it’s still essential to wear sunscreen every single day. The sun’s UV rays are still very damaging and your skin can actually be more vulnerable this time of year. Apply sunscreen every single day to your hands, face, neck, décolletage, arms and any other parts where you don’t want the signs of aging and sun damage to show.
3. Hydrate and moisturize properly. The air actually becomes drier this time of year, which is why our skin can look dehydrated during the fall and winter months. This is the ideal time to incorporate a serum or skin oil into your routine and swap your lighter moisturizer for a heavier one. You may want to do the same with your eye cream as well. By using thicker or slightly heavier creams, you’ll avoid that flaky, dehydrated skin that afflicts so many when temperatures drop. 4. Increase exfoliation. One of the best ways to treat dry, shedding skin is with regular exfoliation. It eliminates those dead skin cells that clog pores and make your skin look dull and parched. Start by adding an additional day per week to your routine as it gets colder. Make sure to target the skin on your body, not just your face.
5. Stimulate circulation. Cold weather slows down circulation, which leads to duller looking skin.
