When you’re trying to get into that swimsuit or just want to improve your health, reducing your body fat percentage is essential. The leaner your muscle mass, the more calories you burn on a daily basis, making it easier to maintain your weight loss over time. Plus, when you lower your body fat, you’ll experience increase energy and stamina.

By following these three rules, you’ll be able to reach your target weight safely and effectively. Combine these healthy strategies with a regimen of Lipo-Light body sculpting sessions and you will achieve the physique you’ve always dreamed of.

1.    Load Up on Lean Protein
Lean protein is critical for weight loss—it fills you up for longer than other food groups, promotes healthy digestion and helps you increase the lean muscle mass in your body. When you boost your lean muscle mass, your body burns calories at higher rate. Some excellent sources include eggs, skinless poultry, tofu and seafood such as shrimp, mackerel, tuna and salmon. If you prefer red meat, opt for lean grass-fed beef.

2.    Cut Out Sugar and “White” Foods
When you’re trying to lose weight, one of the most effective measures you can take is to eliminate refined sugars and starchy carbs from your diet as much as possible. Most diets and weight loss programs require you to cut them out altogether because these types of foods cause your blood sugar to spike and then fall, which ultimately makes you eat more overall. Make sure to stay away from sodas and sugary juices as well—those calories add up fast.

3.    Work Out Regularly
Augment your weight loss efforts with a consistent exercise regimen. Try to incorporate all three pillars of fitness training: cardio, strength and flexibility. Start by exercising three days a week and increase the number of days and the duration of your workouts over time. In addition, strive to get physical activity in other ways as much as possible, such as taking a walk during your lunch break, cycling to errands and taking the stairs.

7 Foods That Boost Collagen Production

While Microcurrent facials and other facial treatments boost collagen and help fight the signs of aging, your diet is also important. Anti-inflammatory and collagen-boosting foods are all the rage these days—and for good reason. Collagen is a protein located in the outer layer of the skin that is responsible for its elasticity and strength. As we age, natural production in our bodies decreases, which causes the skin to lose elasticity and volume. Reduction in collagen also leads to fine lines and wrinkles.

Combat this by getting Microcurrent facials regularly and eating a diet rich in foods that boost collagen. Read on for seven foods that stimulate production of this essential protein.

1. Citrus
Citrus fruit is rich in vitamin C, which is key for revving up collagen production and boosting our immune systems. Vitamin C also protects against free radical damage.

2. Dark Leafy Greens
Dark leafy greens are also excellent courses of vitamin C and other antioxidants that stimulate collagen. Some great choices include spinach, kale, broccoli, collard greens and Brussels sprouts.

3. Orange Produce
Orange-colored veggies like sweet potatoes, squash, orange bell peppers, pumpkins and carrots are packed with vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene. Vitamin A slows down the breakdown of both collagen and elastin and acts as an internal sunscreen against the sun’s damaging UV rays. Other good sources include apricots, oranges, papaya and cantaloupe.

4. Red Produce
Red-colored fruits and vegetables are good sources of antioxidants including lycopene and vitamins A and C. Some ideal options include beets, tomatoes, red bell peppers, red potatoes, cherries, strawberries, raspberries and apples.

5. Avocado
Avocados are loaded with omega 3 fatty acids, aka healthy fats, and vitamin E. Both combat free radicals and boost collagen production.

6. Fatty Fish
Tuna, mackerel, sardines and salmon are also excellent sources of with omega-3 fatty acids.

Your Beauty Resolutions

It’s the New Year, which means everyone is making resolutions, often times related to giving something up. Since we only want our clients to feel and look their very best, we suggest adding beauty and antiaging practices to their routines. While we’re definitely not proponents of smoking, excessive drinking and other bad habits, we want to focus on the positives, like getting more Microcurrent facials or consuming more antioxidant-rich foods.

Here are five resolutions that will help you look better in 2017 while fighting the signs of aging.

1. Remove your makeup nightly. Always wash your face and remove all makeup before you go to bed. Be religious about it. When you sleep, your skin works to repair itself, so give it a blank canvas to work with. When you don’t remove makeup, your pores will be clogged and your skin will not be able to breathe. If you’re too tired, use makeup wipes as a last resort.

2. Wear sunscreen rain or shine. One of the most important things we can do to combat the signs of aging is to wear sunscreen every day single day. Apply it even on rainy days, as the sun still emits UV rays on cloudy or rainy days. Sunscreen prevents unsightly damage including hyperpigmentation, sun spots and premature wrinkles, while protecting against melanoma. Look for a product that offers broad spectrum protection and apply to your face, hands, neck and décolletage.

3. Treat your hands. Our hands show aging more than any part of our body, so protect them well. At a minimum, use a rich moisturizing cream and sunscreen every day. You may want to incorporate some of the other products you use on your face, such as retinol or a vitamin C serum. Always wear gloves when washing dishes, gardening or doing housework.

4. Start using Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that brightens your skin, decreases hyperpigmentation and repairs sun damage. Start taking a supplement every day and find a good Vitamin C serum to incorporate into your routine.

5. Commit to a series of Microcurrent facials. One of the best ways to have glowing, firm looking skin with by getting regular Micorcurrent facials. These nonsurgical treatment boost collagen, firm and tone, and gives you a youthful, beautiful glow that is unparalleled. Even if you’ve already done your 10 and are on maintenance plan, you may want to up the ante and get them more regularly. Many of our clients get them every other week or on a weekly basis.

5 Christmas Diet Strategies

The holidays are in full effect, which means temptation awaits at almost every corner. If you’ve been dieting, exercising and getting Lipo-Light body sculpting treatments, the last thing you want to do is binge this holiday weekend. The good news is, we’re about to share some awesome strategies to help you stay on track.

1.     Don’t leave the house on an empty stomach. One of the worst things you can do is skip meals during the holidays. If you arrive at a party and your stomach is grumbling, you’ll be sure to overeat. Even if you just run out to the mall on an empty stomach, you’re bound to hit the food court and overeat. Don’t skip meals and make sure to eat a protein-rich snack before you leave the house so you can keep those hunger pangs in check.

2.     Work out a little more than usual. When you eat more than usual, you need to increase your caloric burn. Hit the gym an extra day and increase the duration of your workouts for the rest of the season. Whatever you do, don’t skip your regular workouts.

3.     Be selective. Opt to enjoy only those items that are truly your holiday favorites. Don’t just have something because it’s only available this time of year. It’s a waste of calories and you will probably still indulge in your favorites.

4.     Employ the three bite rule. An easy way to indulge in moderation is with the three bite rule. Studies show that the most enjoyable tasting parts of a dish are the first and last. Craving dessert? Have three bites and put your fork down. You’ll have enjoyed the experience and won’t feel deprived.

5.     Get Lipo-Light treatments. Don’t skip your body sculpting regimen just because it’s the holidays. If you want to start your New Year looking and feeling your very best, Lipo-Light sessions will help you do exactly that. You’ll be less apt to eat badly when you keep working on yourself.

6 Ways to Survive Thanksgiving

11/22/2016

Picture
The holidays are here, and for the majority of Americans, this leads to weight gain. Starting with Thanksgiving, we face decadent temptation in the form of holiday dinners, parties and other festivities. When you spend time and money exercising, eating right and getting Lipo-Light body sculpting sessions, it seems like a waste to let it all go during the holidays.

If you want to enjoy the season without broadening your waistline, try a few of these tips or tricks.

  1. Don’t go anywhere on an empty stomach. Eat small but healthy meals and snacks the day of the big meal. Focus on foods packed with fiber and lean protein to keep those cravings in check. This way, you won’t be starving when you get to Thanksgiving dinner. When your stomach is grumbling because it’s empty, chances are you’ll overeat or even binge.

  2. Squeeze a workout in. Even if you’re the one cooking, start your day off with some physical activity. It will rev your metabolism, get the calorie burn going and give you energy for your day. Ideally, hit the gym for a full workout. If you don’t have enough time, break your exercise up into 20 or 30 minutes when you wake up and another 20 minutes or so later on.

  3. Pause before going for seconds. It takes your brain around 20 minutes to register that your stomach is full. Give yourself time for this to happen. Note the time you start eating and wait as long as you can. If you can wait more than 20 minutes, chances are you won’t need seconds at all.

  4. Avoid heavy sauces and gravy. Creamy sauces and gravy typically contain lots of calories, fat and sodium. Don’t hide the taste of turkey and veggies with sauce! You’ll save a load of calories and keep your total down for the day.

  5. Be picky about your splurges. Don’t eat everything in sight just because it’s a holiday. Select your favorites and avoid the fattening sides that don’t get you excited.

  6. Give digestion a hand. After dinner, try to go for a walk to promote healthy digestion. Even a short trek around the block will do the trick. A cup of ginger tea will also do wonders for a full stomach.

5 Ways to Diminish Dark Circles

11/11/2016

Picture
One of the biggest concerns among our clients who get microcurrent facials are dark circles. Women of all ages suffer from these unsightly beauty issues. Whether they are due to aging, allergies or lack of shut-eye, dark circles can be difficult to get rid of. While sleep is important, it may only diminish their appearance a little bit.

Our under-eye skin is very delicate and sensitive, so it’s essential to treat the area with TLC. Here are a five ways to give that area the extra care it deserves and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

1.  Use products that boost collagen production. As we age, collagen break downs and thins, allowing veins to show through and makes the area appear darker.  Combat this with products that boost collagen, such as retinol. Make sure to apply sunscreen every day, as sun damage diminishes collagen.

2. Sleep right. Make sure to get your eight hours of sleep—but do it on your back. This will prevent fluid retention under your eyes, which causes puffiness and dark circles. For best results, double up on pillows to elevate your head as much as possible to prevent blood from building up in the under-eye area.

3. Quit bad practices. Avoid cigarettes altogether—smoking cuts the flow of oxygen to your cells and breaks down collagen. Limit alcohol intake as much as possible since it hinders restful sleep. Try to avoid rubbing your eyes, and if you suffer from allergies, take antihistamines at night.

4. Eat well. Eat lots of antioxidant-rich food to reduce inflammation and boost collagen. Decrease the sodium in your diet, as it leads to water retention and can slow down circulation. Hydrate properly with water and tea. Lemon water is also very helpful in reducing water retention.

5. Get regular microcurrent facials. Also known as nonsurgical face lifts, microcurrent facials help hydrate the skin and decrease water retention in this vulnerable area. It also stimulates the facial muscles and boosts circulation, which reduces puffiness and the appearance of dark circles.

5 Fall Skin Care Tips

10/14/2016

Picture
Fall is in full effect, and if you haven’t switched up your skin care routine, there is no better time to do it. Transitioning your regimen from summer products and treatments to a more fall-friendly program will help your skin look its very best. While you should keep following your current routine of Microcurrent facials, a few other tweaks will keep your skin glowing all season long.

Here are five effective skin care tips for Fall.

|1. Repair summer wear and tear. Even though we know you wore sunscreen religiously all summer long, the sun still may have wreaked some damage. Start treating unsightly hyperpigmentation with nightly use of a gentle lightening product or retinol. Retinol is an excellent option as it also targets wrinkles and fine lines while exfoliating dead skin cells to reveal fresher looking skin and eliminate clogged pores.

2. Apply sunscreen like it’s summer. Even though the days are shorter and temperatures cool down, it’s still essential to wear sunscreen every single day. The sun’s UV rays are still very damaging and your skin can actually be more vulnerable this time of year. Apply sunscreen every single day to your hands, face, neck, décolletage, arms and any other parts where you don’t want the signs of aging and sun damage to show.

3. Hydrate and moisturize properly. The air actually becomes drier this time of year, which is why our skin can look dehydrated during the fall and winter months. This is the ideal time to incorporate a serum or skin oil into your routine and swap your lighter moisturizer for a heavier one. You may want to do the same with your eye cream as well. By using thicker or slightly heavier creams, you’ll avoid that flaky, dehydrated skin that afflicts so many when temperatures drop. You may also want to add a face mist to your routine—ones that contain rose water make a great choice.

4. Increase exfoliation. One of the best ways to treat dry, shedding skin is with regular exfoliation. It eliminates those dead skin cells that clog pores and make your skin look dull and parched. Start by adding an additional day per week to your routine as it gets colder. Make sure to target the skin on your body, not just your face.

5. Stimulate circulation. Cold weather slows down circulation, which leads to duller looking skin. Microcurrent facials provide an excellent way to boost circulation in your facial muscles and give your skin a youthful glow. Exercise will also improve circulation in your face and entire body, so stay on your summer workout routine and step it up if possible.
